3 Signs that Your Business Needs to Rebrand

Let me set the stage for you. You’re a few years into your business and thinking it might be time for a rebrand, but you’re a little nervous and unsure about it. Is it really the right time? Is your business ready? Is it going to be worth the money?

A rebrand can have a HUGE impact on your business and give you the jumpstart that you’ve been waiting for. But it can be scary to take the leap and feel confident that you’re doing it at the right time. So here are 4 signs to help you figure out if your business needs a rebrand or not:

01 / Your branding doesn’t live up to the high quality work that you do.

You’ve worked really hard to create the best possible product or service for your audience. But now, your branding doesn’t quite match the high quality experience that you’ve created. Maybe it feels a outdated or just a little amateur compared to your amazing products. You wish that it could be more elevated and better convey the quality of what you do.

02 / Your DIY branding just doesn’t align with your vision anymore.

It can be difficult to know your brand goals and audience in the beginning stages of your business. Most businesses start by DIYing their branding and that works fine for a while. But as your business grows, your goals and vision may shift a little bit and then your DIY brand may not feel right anymore.

03 / You’re struggling to stand out and see the growth that you want. 

Are you not reaching your target audience as well as you want to? Do you feel like your business is getting lost in your saturated industry and not standing out against your competition? Often times, these problems are rooted in your branding not being memorable enough or unique to your business. If your branding feels like everyone else in your industry, you may be missing opportunities to grab your audience’s attention. And those missed opportunities could lead to missed sales or bookings.

If you resonate with any of these, it may be time to invest in a rebrand! And to help you feel prepared to take that leap, I wanted to share my best advice for how to get the most out of your rebrand:

  • Make sure that your vision for your business is super clear.
    A great brand starts with a clear understanding of what your business goals are and who your audience is. If you don’t have those things sorted out yet, I recommend working with a brand strategist or business coach first. Then when you work with a designer, it’ll be much easier to create a new brand that’s intentional and will get you results. 
  • Invest in a professional.
    Yes, a professional designer can be expensive. But you have to think about the huge value that they will bring to your business! When you work with a designer who knows their stuff, you set yourself up to have more confidence and flexibility in your business. A strong brand can make expanding your offerings and launching the next big thing so much easier — which is totally worth the investment in the long run. And if you’re worried about the cost, make sure to ask the designer if they offer payment plans! Many of us do and are more than happy to work with your budget.
  • Always be mindful of your audience’s perspective.
    When working on visuals, it can be easy to get caught up in personal preferences. If you DIY-ed your current branding, maybe you focused on what you personally thought would look good and that can be fine in those early stages. BUT if you really want your business to see results, more sales and deeper connection with your audience, your branding needs to be designed with them in mind. I make sure to remind my own clients of this while we work together, encouraging them to see things from their audience’s point of view before making any design decisions.
  • Trust the process.
